You do not need a technician in the driveway. You need a phone, and when a screen share would help, a computer or tablet on the internet. Families in another state can arrange the same support for a parent. That is the point of a national Technology Wellness service.
When remote help is useful
Remote help is useful when the next click is hard to describe: a missed Zoom button, a printer that says offline, an email rule that hid a family message, a text-size setting buried in menus. It is less useful for a cracked screen or a device that will not turn on. We will say so.
Permission comes first
Before any remote session, RingMyTech explains what is happening and asks for permission. Remote help only happens when you request support and agree. You can end the session. Remote access is disconnected when the session ends. Sessions may be recorded for quality assurance.
Read the seven checks in Before you share remote access any time someone you did not call wants control of the computer.
Help for a parent who lives elsewhere
An adult child can book the welcome call, sit in if the parent wants that, and then step back. Care Circle is how an approved family contact can request help later without becoming the permanent help desk. The member decides who participates and what may be shared.
What to have ready
Have the device plugged in, the Wi-Fi password available to the person who owns it, and a plain description of the last thing that worked. You do not need the brand names of every app. "I was trying to see my granddaughter and the screen went black" is enough to start.
If more than one device is involved, start with the one that does the daily job. Fixing a tablet the household never uses is a poor first session.
What remote help does not do
Remote help does not repair a cracked screen, replace a dead battery, or enter a home. It does not give medical, legal, or financial advice. It does not keep a connection open after you say stop. If the device will not turn on at all, we will say that a remote session cannot see it.
Payment is the session or membership you chose. A person who reaches you first and asks for a gift card is not RingMyTech remote help.
Need help with this?
If you are with the computer now, call. If you are arranging help for a parent, book a time when they can be on the phone too.
